About this policy

Roshi is developed by Andrew Mok. This policy covers two different places: the website you are reading (roshi.mmc.dev), and the desktop app distributed from GitHub Releases and the Mac App Store. They handle analytics differently, so they are described separately below.

No personal data required

Neither the website nor the app asks you to register, sign in, or provide a name, email address, or phone number. We do not sell data, use it for advertising, or link analytics events to your identity.

Website analytics

This website uses PostHog to collect anonymous usage statistics so we can see which pages help, and which download buttons people actually click. That includes page paths, interactions such as download and FAQ clicks, optional campaign parameters (for example utm_source), referring domains, and general technical information the browser sends (browser and OS type, approximate region derived from IP).

PostHog may store a randomly generated anonymous identifier in a cookie or localStorage so return visits can be distinguished from one-off visits. That identifier is not personal data. You can clear browser storage at any time, or block tracking with browser settings and extensions. If PostHog keys are not configured for a deployment, the analytics script is not loaded.

Desktop app: no analytics or tracking

The Roshi macOS app does not include analytics frameworks, crash reporting tools, advertising SDKs, or other telemetry. It does not collect usage statistics or device information, and it does not communicate with any server we operate. App Store privacy labels for Roshi reflect this app behavior, not the separate website analytics described above.

Local-only storage in the app

API keys, provider configurations, request history, eval runs, and settings stay in the app’s local database on your Mac. That data never leaves your device through the Roshi app itself.

Third-party LLM providers

When you send requests from the app to providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or OpenRouter, those requests go directly from your Mac to the provider. Roshi does not proxy, intercept, or store those communications on an external server. Each provider’s own privacy policy applies to the data you send them.

Children’s privacy

Neither the website nor the app collects personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes appear on this page with a revised date.
